In case you’re wondering, the nerdminer is a great little toy. It actually does work, it is trying its very best to mine a solo block. It has a simple board inside like a Raspberry Pi and runs the nerdminer program. It has WiFi, and I connected it to my phone with a portable hotspot so it could stay in touch with the bitcoin protocol and broadcast those hashes. It actually worked quite well, but my phone started heating up after about an hour.
I got a powerbank with a solar panel just because I saw someone on twitter doing the same and I got jealous. The meetup was at night so it didn’t matter, we just used the charge on the battery, it can run for hours.
The whole thing worked quite well, I only dropped the nerdminer on the floor once and it didn’t break, and people kept asking questions about the miner.
