Why are we doing this?
The community built on top of bitcoin has left the cypherpunk mailing lists and the internet fora. Though we may still meet in internet plazas and have lots of fun doing so, the real-world locations that are supporting bitcoin have made many lone wolves gather and socialize.
In 2023 there had been 40 bitcoin conferences around the world, big and small. Not counting the hundreds of meetups, special events, pizza parties, workshops and so on.
We are ready. The social layer of bitcoin is as important as it ever has been. Nodes as software and physical entities are only part of the equation, active noderunners are the other half.
We are ready to take bitcoin mainstream in a right way. Open, bitcoin-only events, fun places to be like the world-famous Santorini island, and celebrate according to the bitcoin ethos.
We are ready to make the halving event a tiny bit as important as the Olympics every four years. Future generations will celebrate this in their own way, but it will have started now.

What’s the halving event?
Every 4 years on average the bitcoin protocol is set to halve the amount of new bitcoin given to miners. This is called the halving event, and it will change from the current 6.25 BTC to 3.125 BTC. You can see it here https://halving.live/

Who is organizing the event?
The team behind Love is Bitcoin and a few external partners.
Can I buy a ticket with bitcoin?
Of course, just use the bitcoin or lightning option during checkout
Can I bring the family?
Yes! This is a family-friendly event, and the hotel is also family-friendly. Reach out to reception if you need anything specific.
What’s included in the price?
The “Ticket to event plus accommodation” at the hotel for the 2 nights of the event, 12th and 13th. Checkout is at the 14th and you can select to arrange directly with the hotel and stay longer. Price does NOT include travel or any other expenses.
The Single Ticket does not include accommodation, but it does include access to the event and snacks, food and drinks offered during.
Do we get breakfast?
Yes. The hotel guests get a breakfast and the rest of the guests can get snacks during the event.
Heard there’s a barbecue
Yes. We’ll have a barbecue in the garden.
What about snacks? I need my snacks
The hotel’s kitchen will be available for anyone who wishes to buy some more meals and drinks throughout the entire event.
Are there any extra costs?
The accommodation ticket includes breakfast, one barbecue and the hotel stay for 2 nights. Extras are snacks you might get from the hotel, drinks, and there’s a tax of 1.5 euro per day of stay that is payable at the hotel’s reception.
We’re 2+ people, do I need more tickets?
The accommodation ticket is basically per room. So if it’s 2 people, 1 ticket is okay. If it’s more, it’s 60 euros per extra person.

The flights aren’t really working for me
You can consider taking a flight to Athens and take the ferryboat for Santorini.
Do I need a Visa to enter Greece?
Depends on where you’re coming from, we’re in the EU so if you’ve ever visited you already know the deal. Ask the appropriate government agencies.
Can I get a refund on my tickets?
All sales are final.
What Will Everyone Wear?
It should be warm enough for a swim, maybe slightly chilly in the afternoon and at night. Bring your hat, a swimsuit and a light jacket plus options in longer sleeves.

What’s the best way to get from the airport to the hotel?
It’s really close, so either with a taxi or you can arrange transfer beforehand with the hotel’s reception.

Does the hotel accept bitcoin?
Not directly.
Can I take photos and videos at the event?
Yes but please do not publicly post any photos/video that identify other Bitcoiners without their permission. We’ll have a blue band with the Greek evil eye on it, people who wear it do not wish to be filmed or photographed and you should respect that.
