CZ SAYS BITCOIN HITS $1 MILLION — AND WANTS TO FREEZE SATOSHI’S 1.1 MILLION COINS ‘FOR YOUR PROTECTION’

The man who ran the biggest exchange on Earth just stood in front of a room in Hong Kong and told everyone that Bitcoin will eventually matter MORE than gold — and that the road to a seven-figure price is a hell of a lot shorter than the “quarter-century away” crowd keeps telling you.

Sounds bullish, right? $1,000,000 Bitcoin. Sooner than you think. HODL through the noise. Lambo on the moon.

Then keep reading. Because the same man, Changpeng Zhao — the guy who built Binance into the largest custodial exchange in history, paid the DOJ $4.3 billion, and got pardoned by the president — has a second idea he wants the Bitcoin community to consider. And it should make every coin in your wallet feel cold.

CZ wants the power to FREEZE Bitcoin.

Back in June, on the Galaxy Brains podcast, CZ floated a proposal: give the network a 6-to-12 month migration window toward quantum-resistant upgrades. Fair enough on its face. Upgrade the cryptography. Keep the network safe. Sure.

But here’s the part he doesn’t shout: after that window closes, he says, Bitcoin sitting in addresses that never moved should be frozen under the new protocol.

Not “strongly encouraged to migrate.” Frozen. Unspendable. Seized — politely, of course. “For your own protection.”

And whose coins would be “dormant”? Start with the big one: the estimated 1 to 1.1 MILLION Bitcoin believed to belong to Satoshi Nakamoto. Roughly 5% of the entire supply. An entire nation’s worth of money, in addresses an attacker could theoretically crack.

The scare story isn’t entirely invented. Google Quantum AI published a paper in March recalculating how many qubits it takes to break Bitcoin’s secp256k1 cryptography: under 500,000 physical qubits, down from the “millions” the industry used to assume. Roughly 6.9 to 7 MILLION BTC — about a third of the circulating supply — sits in addresses with exposed public keys.

Now here’s the part the exchange king hopes you miss.

Binance’s OWN Chief Security Officer said on August 12 that no quantum machine of that scale exists today, and that the immediate threats are phishing, social engineering, and operational mistakes. The exact threats custodial exchanges have a long, expensive, record-breaking history of being terrible at.

And here’s the part that makes CZ’s proposal not just unnecessary but dangerous: quantum-safe Bitcoin already exists. In the same city where he made his $1M speech — Hong Kong — a StarkWare researcher just demonstrated the FIRST quantum-safe transaction on Bitcoin mainnet. No soft fork. No hard fork. No protocol upgrade. Live today, without anyone’s permission. The builders already won without a kill switch.

So ask yourself why the man who built the world’s biggest key-holding machine is pushing the idea that the network should be able to lock coins it decides are “vulnerable.”

This is the same week Tether froze $42 MILLION without a warrant. First they freeze “stablecoins.” Now the industry’s most powerful figure floats freezing Bitcoin itself — Satoshi’s coins first, but the mechanism doesn’t care whose wallet is next.

Once the network has a freeze function, “dormant” is just a parameter and “vulnerable” is just a policy. And the people setting those parameters won’t be anonymous hashers in basements. They’ll be the same institutions that spent a decade convincing you to hand over your keys.

Alex Thorn over at Galaxy said it in terms even a CEO can choke on: freezing dormant coins isn’t security, it’s confiscation. It rewrites Bitcoin’s property rights and destroys the one property that makes it better than the banking system — the fact that nobody can touch your money. Not CZ. Not the DOJ. Not a “consensus.”

Bitcoin doesn’t need a kill switch. It needs holders who actually hold.

If a seven-figure Bitcoin is really on the way — and the guy who knows every custody screw-up on Earth says it is — then the only coins that matter are the ones in YOUR wallet, on YOUR keys.

Don’t leave your stack somewhere it can be “protected.” Buy your own coins: https://loveisbitcoin.com/bull — use coupon code LOVEISBITCOIN and take self-custody seriously while the price is still a rounding error away from the moon.

So here’s the question I need you to answer in the comments: if the network gains the power to freeze Satoshi’s coins “for safety,” what stops it from freezing yours the day you’re labeled “dormant”? And if you think that can’t happen — how much of your stack is sitting with people who already believe it should?
